Visioneering My Future

The Book Cover

One of my favorite books of all time is Andy Stanley’s Visioneering. So many people wander through there life feeling like they have wasted so much time and opportunities. I felt that burden way early on in college and even my senior year in high school. I knew God was preparing me for a whole lot and I needed to make sure my vision was His vision for my life. I really didn’t understand that His vision must come first until my sophomore year of college when my heart just felt like I was being called back home. But, that is a different post.

Anyways, I am rereading Visioneering in preparation for things to come in the months that are going to require much strength, faith, leadership and discernment on my part, and I know that all of that has got to come from God and not from me. For if I were to rely on my self, I would fail miserably. So, over more than 20 posts I hope to lay out 20 building blocks that Andy talks about in his book. This is moreso for my benefit and hopefully like my previous post to flow into your own awakening and search for God plan in your life.

Live Like We are Dying

Kris Allen

If you haven’t had the chance to listen to Kris Allen’s “Live Like We Are Dying,” be ready for a #1 hit. Why? It applies to all of our lives.  Let’s take in a few of the lines:

Our hearts are hungry for a food that won’t come
We could make a feast from these crumbs

Hmmm… what could we take this to mean? Maybe we search for all sorts of things that in the end tend to give us little fullfillment. Maybe we need to take our focus off of the big and bright shiny things that attract us and look at all (more…)

Honesty is A Serial Killer

So I sent out a bunch of Thank You Cards today. I start off saying I will only write three or four, because, honestly, writing them is a killer…three hours today…mostly on facebook and I only wrote 12..HAHA. . However, I got a good chunk out of the way today…

$2,600 is thankfully significantly less than my Journey internship ($3,600), but raising it is no easier. I’ve found out so far that it is the people I least expect that have given me the most…. We are less than 47 days out from our Journey internship…about a month and two weeks you guys!…some people might have already raised the req. amount (there was a girl in the Journey program that raised almost $10,000 or $6,400 more than req.). Then there is the rest of us that struggle….and I mean struggle to raise the $2,600. And then there are other costs: passports, immunizations, gas, clothes, toiletries, food, entertainment. These definitely take out about another $1,000 to survive the summer. What do we do…what happens? (more…)

Paul Peterson is the Man!

Can I just say how much I love Paul Peterson? I wish I had got to hang out with him more when he was church planter resident at Mountain Lake. Why do I love him so much? Because his is different than so many pastors I know. He is real, down-to-earth, not ignorant, and is for everyone. He unvieled the dirty side of our faith with this simple post:

Now whether you like Obama or not. Think deeply about your actions when reading his post, and all the comments.

It’s sad.

No wonder Christians and the Church are such turn offs. We are ignorant selfish jerks that think God is Republican, Blesses America, and gets Michael W. Smith to play at his parties.

🙂 Okay…a little sarcasm there. But a little bit of truth.

Louie, I needed our weekly Starbucks chat this morning Sooo bad. I have some pain killers for the hand if you need em…(illegally though).
