“Are we human or are we dancer?
My sign is vital, my hands are cold
And I’m on my knees looking for the answer
Are we human or are we dancer?”
Brandon Flowers, lead singer of the band “The Killers” wrote those lines for his song “Human.” I think we can all assume the meaning of his song as the question, who is ultimately in control?
There are days that I come home and just collapse on the couch and just feel like a puppet to life’s circumstances. I lose sight of what is true and what is good. When I forget my purpose and my Creator, my vision narrows and life gets quite overwhelming. I try to control things and get my life back in order, but life tends to control me even more.
There is a puppet master, our Creator, but He is never demanding, never abrasive and never harsh. He is compassionate, very patient, loving, understanding and the perfect listener. When I remember that and say it to myself, I choose to believe I am not someone’s dancing puppet, but I am willfully human and willfully God’s son.
